Miranda Bruton Barrier; March 14, 2013
Miranda Bruton Barrier, 40, of Madison, died Thursday, March 14, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born Aug. 25, 1972 in Moulton to J.M. and Gearldean Proctor Bruton.
Miranda graduated from Lawrence County High School in Moulton with the class of 1990. She continued her education at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. She received her Bachelor and Master’s degree in Education, as well as additional credits that qualified her to teach at the junior college level. Continuous education was a common thread throughout her life, which she passed along to all who have been blessed to be a student.
Throughout her career, she taught at Tuscaloosa County High School, Echols Middle School in Tuscaloosa, Shelton State Community College, Calhoun Community College, and most recently, Bob Jones High School in Madison.
She is survived by her parents, J.M. and Gearldean Proctor Bruton of Moulton; husband, Jarrod L. Barrier of Madison; three children, Elijah (12), Ian (11), and Ellen (6); and brother, Marty (Tammy) Bruton of Moulton. Miranda also leaves behind her beloved nieces, Rachel and Victoria Bruton of Moulton and Mount Hope, respectively, Josie and Madalyn Higgins of Oakland; and nephew, Alan Bruton of Moulton.
Miranda was an incredible wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who loved life and will be dearly missed.
Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, March 16, at 3 p.m. at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with Dr. Tim Lovett and Rev. Steve Gruman officiating.
A Celebration of Life will be from 1- 2:30 p.m. in the Parkway Funeral Home in Trinity, to greet relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Alan Bruton, Sam Oliver, Jeremy Proctor, Nat Arnold, Greg Hess, and Clint King.
