MADISON – Sci-Quest Hands-on Science Center will get hot with science for Cinco de Mayo on May 5 from 1 to 4 p.m.

“Visitors will have fun discovering how hot science can get through various hands-on activities and demonstrations,” marketing manager Jennifer Deermer said. “Stations will be set-up around Sci-Quest for visitors to learn how science heats things up.”

A chemical reaction demonstration will showcase fire and friction with hot and cold chemical reactions. A thermite reaction demo will involve two metal spheres creating sparks. “Visitors also can make their own Mexican-inspired mathematical snack, based on hexaflexagons, and participate in a hot pepper tasting,” Deermer said.

General admission to Sci-Quest will include Cinco de Mayo activities. For more information, call 256-837-0606 or visit sci-quest.org.
