William J. Harris
June 6, 1931 – November 28, 2013

Bill Harris, 82, was a native of Portsmouth, VA and was one of eleven children. He entered active duty with the U.S. Air Force in 1948. His career landed him in Huntsville in 1961 where he retired from the US Army Missile Command. After his retirement from the command he went on to work for local contractors, COLSA, Westinghouse, Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin. William was a proud citizen of Madison, AL for the past 50 years. He was a member of Crosspoint Church. He was a beloved husband, father, grandparent, and will be missed and cherished by all who’s lives he touched.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Shirley Harris of Madison; daughters, Darlene Potter of Irving, TX and Sheri Graham of Madison; sons, William J. Harris, Jr. and wife, Karen, of Huntsville and Sean Harris of Madison; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn and Sandra and brothers, Alton, Earl and James.

Visitation was held Monday December 2, 2013 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service was held Tuesday December 3, 2013 at Laughlin Service Chapel with Brother John Dees officiating. Burial will be in Madison Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, The Muscular Dystrophy Association.
