HUNTSVILLE – Three grand dames will search for their earlier strengths in “Three Fairy Godmothers,” the upcoming production for Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater.

The play will be presented April 18-27 in the Von Braun Center Playhouse.

The slapstick comedy by Jerry L. Twedt follows “the hilarious antics of three retired fairy godmothers on a quest to earn back their magic wands,” executive director Karen Ouriel said. The fairy godmothers “sweeten up a spiteful princess to prepare her for her royal future.”

Tom Prohaska of Madison and Joey Shelton are handling technical direction. Wings award winner Lezlie Lanza is director. Pam Anders is costume mistress.

The Production Performance Partner is Jerry Damson Automotive. The 53rd Season Performance Partner is Simple Helix.

Portraying the fairy godmothers are Karen Alexander (Hortense), April Boddie (Hepsabah) and Stephanie Hyatt (Hoplandria).

The cast includes Jacob ‘Thor’ Smith (Prince Royal), Jason Lightfoot (Count Quiggle), Joshua Payne Hans (servant), Terrena Mann Barabela (witch), Michael Izzo Org (witch’s son), Craig Reinhart (King) and William Blaylock (Prime Minister).

Established in 1961, Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater has brought the magic of theater and arts education to Tennessee Valley families through stage productions, year-round academy classes, outreach in schools and hands-on, formal mentoring.

Fantasy Playhouse “provides a unique opportunity for arts education, in addition to a cross-generational family volunteer experience,” Ouriel said. Fantasy Playhouse is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization with support from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the Huntsville Arts & Culture Grant Program.

Show dates for “Three Fairy Godmothers” are April 18 and 25 at 7 p.m., April 19-20 and 26-27 at 1:30 and 5 p.m. For tickets, call 256-539-6829 or visit fantasyplayhouse.com.
