MADISON – Carol Ingram owns Pet AuPair Extraordinaire LLC, a caring service for pet sitting dogs, cats and small animals.

Pet AuPair is an in-home (live-in) 24/7 pet care service, also known as Your Pet Nana. “We provide quality care for pets who thrive best in the comfort of their home environment,” Ingram said. “We’re the ‘PURR-fect’ solution for rescues, older pets, greyhounds and any pet who doesn’t respond to boarding outside the home.”

“We treat pets like our own. If they sleep with their owner, they sleep with us. We provide lots of cuddles, walks and play,” Ingram said. “Let us be your pet’s Nana when you travel.”

Her interest in sitting began with rescuing her Cockapoo, Willow, who had lived in a puppy mill and kept caged for years. “She was tiny with no teeth from trying to chew out of a crate … afraid of just about everything,” Ingram said. “It took love and patience but she became comfortable with me.

However, Ingram needed to travel and couldn’t find a home sitter. The boarding facility agreed not to cage Willow, but she was kept in a small cage, which traumatized her. “She never fully recovered. I realized the need for quality in-home sitters.”

First, Ingram schedules a consultation with the pet owner and pet and determines the dog’s history, their commands and daily routine. Sometimes, another consultation is planned.

For a pet, an in-home sitter allows safety; security; comfort of familiar sights, smells and sounds; regular diet and exercise; medical treatment; and plenty of love and snuggles, Ingram said. In addition, the animal is reassured during severe weather and avoids exposure to other animals’ illnesses.

“I love companionship of the pets and knowledge I’m providing a service that gives me more than I ever expected,” Ingram said. “Pet AuPair has carefully chosen sitters who exemplify the professionalism that owners want for their ‘fur child.'”

All Pet AuPair sitters are covered by bond, pet insurance and have passed background checks, she said.
