MADISON – Niche, a national research organization, has ranked the Madison City Schools district in third place among 135 school districts in Alabama.
MCS scored an overall A+.
All seven elementary schools in Madison placed in the top 25 in individual school rankings. All four Madison secondary schools placed in the top 10 in Alabama: Bob Jones High School, fifth; James Clemens High School, eighth; Liberty Middle School, ninth; and Discovery Middle School, 10th.
These accolades for Madison schools appear in Niche’s “2017 Best Schools in America” list. Niche uses its banks of comprehensive data to rate public and private schools and neighborhoods across the United States.
“What a fantastic accomplishment for all MCS schools to rate among the best in the state and outperform so many schools across the nation,” MCS Public Relations Manager John Peck said.
Niche also prepared evaluations in other categories for school districts. Madison City Schools received these additional honors:
* First place district for athletes.
* Second safest district in Alabama.
* Fourth place in the state for employing the best teachers.
* Fifth place for the best location to teach in Alabama.
* 15th place for the most diverse demographics.
* 16th in overall size.
Analyzing thousands of school districts across America, Niche factored in such details as ACT and SAT scores, student-teacher ratio and quality of colleges that students consider attending, along with reviews from students and parents.
Niche rated Mountain Brook and Homewood city schools in first and second place, respectively, for Alabama’s most outstanding school districts.
Following Madison, Hoover and Vestavia Hills city schools rounded out the top five.
Niche has compiled more than 100 million reviews and poll responses, along with statistics and comparable grades for individuals to locate a desirable neighborhood or school. Niche’s headquarters are in Pittsburgh, Pa.
