Frank Cotton helps young musicians get their start

MADISON – Frank Cotton loves to listen to live music of any type. More than anything else, he enjoys watching children playing a music instrument.

With this respect for music, Cotton definitely chose the correct career path. “Our family owns Madison Band Supply, Madison’s’ best and only music store,” he said.

Even as a young boy, Cotton decided on a favorite musical group, which has always been Led Zeppelin.

Cotton believes Madison has an excellent quality of life “with many opportunities to get involved with the community through hobby clubs, sports and the arts. Madison City Schools are top notch!” he said.

Compared to other cities where he has lived, Madison is much smaller. “Madison is very well kept and well loved by its residents,” Cotton said.

Born in Commack, N.Y., he lived there until he was 16 years old and his family moved to Louisville, Ky., where he finished high school and college.

“I was transferred to the Madison area by the company I worked for in 2002,” Cotton said.

He is married to Robin Cotton, who is conductor of Madison Clarinet Choir. Their children are son Frankie Cotton, a student at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and Anna Cotton, who is a 2017 graduate of Bob Jones High School and will start at UAH this fall.

The Cotton own four dogs — Lucy, Pearl, Rocky and Renee.

Frank’s favorite restaurants are Fulins for oriental dishes (“I go a lot.”) and Chuck Wagon BBQ (“Very tasty, too!”).
