Holman named Columbia’s top staff employee

MADISON – Dauriel Holman know all about the campus and buildings at Columbia Elementary School. His co-workers voted for him as Columbia’s Staff Member of the Year.

“I have been working as a custodian for Madison City Schools for 16 years,” Holman said. Currently, he is the head custodian at Columbia.

“My job responsibilities are to make sure the campus is a clean and a safe area for the students. I love working with staff and students,” Holman said.

Holman grew up in Madison and graduated from Bob Jones High School. He currently lives in Harvest, and he has lived in this area for his entire life.

From all of the teachers that taught him in class and that he has met working, Holman best remembers Dennis James, who recently retired as MCS Director of Student Services. “Dennis James was my high school basketball coach. I also worked under his administration when he was principal at Columbia. He taught me patience and the ability to be a leader,” Holman said.

Dauriel is married to Jackie Holman, who is working as a beautician. She is currently enrolled at J. F. Drake State Community & Technical College.

“I have three children. Tinashe Holman, 20, graduated from Sparkman High School and is attending Drake Tech. Diandra Holman, 20, graduated from Johnson High School and is attending Tuskegee College. Corbin Hammonds, 26, graduated from Bob Jones and is currently employed at Polaris,” Dauriel said.

When he has spare time away from work, Holman enjoys going to watch drag racing and trying his luck at fishing.
