Hometown Lenders N2HOOPS Tournament Set At Bob Jones High
MADISON- What promises to be the best field to date, the third annual N2Hoops Invitational boys’ basketball tournament is scheduled for Nov. 20-22 at Bob Jones High. The three-day tournament is sponsored by Hometown Lenders.
“Our tourney has become one of the most exciting holiday tournaments in the Southeast and will feature championship caliber teams from Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee,” said Luther Tiggs, tournament director and head coach of the host Bob Jones Patriots.
Highly ranked players from all three states will be highlighted by Alabama commit Javian Fleming of Canton High of Miss. The 6-foot-9, 230-pound senior averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds and 2.7 blocked shots per outing a season ago. He’s ranked as the No. 2 player in Mississippi. Hazel Green junior sensation Kira Lewis, a 6-3 four-star recruit rated the No. 9 junior guard in America by 247 Sports, will also be playing in the 16-team tournament. He posted 21.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists for the Trojans last year and list both Alabama and Auburn as high on his recruiting list of schools. Host Bob Jones has Chase Fiddler, a 6-4, 155, UAH commit to help lead the Patriots. He averaged 14 points and 4 rebounds last season.
Tickets are $6 per session with a limited number of court-side seats available.
“The tournament is already filled for 2018 as I think the word has spread that this is one of the finest holiday tournaments in the Southeast,” said Tiggs. “Coaches are looking for the best competition that will prepare their teams for post-season play. That fact doesn’t get any better than N2Hoops.”
The first-round matchups on Nov. 20 are: Bob Jones-Eufaula (2:15 pm), Madison Academy-Pinson Valley (3:30 pm), Sumter County-Austin (5:00 pm), Hazel Green-Auburn (6:30 pm), Paul Bryant-Gadsden City (3:30 pm), Park Crossing-Blackman, TN (5:00 pm), Grissom-Canton, MS (6:30 pm) and Sparkman-Oxford (8:00 pm). Day two will feature winners and losers brackets contests with semi-finals, consolations and championship games on Nov. 22. The championship game will tip off at 6:30 p.m.
Austin High won last year’s N2Hoops Invitational with a thrilling overtime 66-63 victory over 2015 tournament victor Blackman High of Murfreesboro, TN.
