BJHS Basketball to host ‘Elementary Night’ Jan. 8

MADISON — The Bob Jones High School basketball program will host an ‘Elementary Night’ for all Madison City Schools elementary students Jan. 8 when the Patriots host the Florence Falcons.

The Elementary Night will take place during both the Girls and Boys Varsity games. The Girls game will begin at 6 p.m. with the Boys game following at 7:30 p.m.

Misti Hopkins, vice president of the Bob Jones Basketball Hardwood Booster Club, said Elementary Nights are something she and the rest of the board are looking to incorporate year after year.

“It’s a great way for us to get the community involved and also to inspire the next generation of athletes that are coming up to keep going with their basketball, or maybe encourage them to begin playing basketball,” Hopkins said. “That’s kind of our goal with Elementary Night, and to also connect the different schools in our area together.”

Students who wear their school T-shirt will be granted free admission to the game with a paying adult ticket purchase. Tickets will cost $6 at the door.

In addition, the BJHS Basketball Hardwood Booster Club will be onsite selling various spirit items such as pom-poms and spirit T-shirts. Children may also enjoy the tattoo station that will be set up.

The booster club also mentioned that “the highlight of the night” will be a surprise guest halftime entertainer.

“You don’t want to miss out on this family friendly fun night,” they added.

Bob Jones High School is located at 650 Hughes Road in Madison.
