Jets Nearly Dominate Huntsville Metro Track & Field Championships

Jets Nearly Dominate Huntsville Metro Track & Field Championships

MADISON- The James Clemens track program continues its trek through the 2019 outdoor season as the Lady Jets won their fifth consecutive title while the boys came up six points shy of winning their sixth straight title in the Huntsville Metro Track & Field Championships held at James Clemens.

Final standings in the 21-event meet had James Clemens girls overwhelming the 12-team field scoring 240 points to runner-up Bob Jones who had 115 points. Sparkman was fourth with 78 points while Madison Academy took ninth scoring 31 points.

In boys, Huntsville took the title with 168 points while James Clemens was second with 162 points, Bob Jones third at 120 points, Sparkman fourth scoring 79 and Madison Academy seventh with 39.

Individual efforts were highlighted by Ashlee Osaji of James Clemens who took four event gold medals by winning the 100, 200 and 400-meter races and the triple jump. In boys, Matthew Weaver of Bob Jones, who won both the 110 and 300-meter hurdles events, and Trevor Hunziker of James Clemens, who took gold medals in both the discus and javelin, were the top performers.

Event domination were featured in two events. In girls, James Clemens’ athletes took 1, 2, and 3 in the triple jump, while in the boys, Bob Jones took the top three places in the 110-hurdles.
