Man arrested for allegedly murdering his mother in Harvest

HARVEST – A woman was shot and killed in Harvest Sunday, and her son has been arrested for her murder.

Madison County Sheriff’s Office arrested the victims son, 27-year-old Nik Rutberg for murder.

Deputies say they responded to a call on the 100 block of Lady Slipper Bend around 2:00 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived they found 51-year-old Elana Voronenkova on the floor with a gun shot wound to her torso.

Officials say they performed CPR and other lifesaving measures but were unsuccessful.

The investigation is still ongoing. No other information has been released at this time.
