Event planned to help parents raise children with less stress and more success

HUNTSVILLE -A free, community-wide event at Randolph School in Huntsville is planned for Aug. 5 to help parents.

There is no harder job than being a parent. Nothing else touches so much of a person so deeply—or so unpredictably—and there is no training for it. As the pace of life accelerates, media influences intensify, and the future grows less predictable, parents find it harder to be confident—harder to know how to raise competent, caring children, how reduce their children’s stress—and their own. Dr. Robert Evans will outline these dilemmas and offer concrete suggestions for successful coping at home and school.

Dr. Evans is a psychologist and the Executive Director of The Human Relations Service, in Wellesley, Mass. A former high school and pre-school teacher and a former child and family therapist, he has worked with schools and families locally and around the country for 35 years. His presentations are known for their lively wit and plain talk. He is the author of many articles and three books, including: Family Matters: How Schools Can Cope with The Crisis in Childrearing.

This free event takes place on Monday, August 5, at 6:30 p.m. on the Garth Campus, 4915 Garth Road SE in Huntsville, and is open to the community. “Randolph School is thrilled to extend its motto to the Tennessee Valley and help our community ‘Prepare for More’ perspective and expert guidance through the challenges of parenting in the 21st century,” said Clarissa McClain, Randolph’s communications director.
