MPD asking for public’s help in identifying armed robbery suspects
MADISON – Madison Police investigators are seeking help in identifying three suspects who robbed the Walgreens on Highway 72 in Madison on Friday, July 26.
A video of the armed robbery was posted by the MPD Thursday in hopes someone would recognize the three suspects.
The video shows the first suspect entering the Walgreens around 4 a.m. and looking around the store. The second suspect soon walks in carrying a pink handgun, followed by a third suspect who also was armed.
According to MPD spokesman Captain John Stringer, the employees were brought to the back of the store while the suspects robbed the pharmacy of narcotics.
“It was very quick. They got in and they got out,” Stringer said. When the suspects left the store, they got into a vehicle and headed south down Hughes Road. “The patrol officers were able to gather some evidence on Hughes Road.”
Stringer said investigators are hoping the video will be seen by somebody who has some information on the suspects and will come forward. There is an excellent image of one of the suspects on the video.
“There is also some information that we are trying to track down from cameras at other business in the area, and we are hoping that might show us a vehicle or tag or something like that,” Stringer said.
He is very confident the investigation will result in the suspects being arrested. “We are going to catch them. It may not be this week, but we will catch them. We are going to find out who these people are, we are going to get warrants and we are going to arrest them. We are going to prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”
In the meantime, Stringer said the Madison Police will increase their patrols of similar businesses.
“We don’t usually have this stuff happen in Madison,” Stringer said. “We are very fortunate, and our officers do a good job.”
