Number of COVID-19 cases in Madison County shows no increase since yesterday

MADISON – Madison County did not have any new cases of COVID-19 since Tuesday evening. The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) says 203 people within the county has tested positive since March 13. There have been four deaths from the illness. Limestone County had 40 cases and no deaths.

The rate of new cases has drastically slowed down over the past week. Since last Tuesday the number of cases in Madison County has only increased by 12.

There are a total of 5,342 cases of COVID-19 in Alabama, according to the ADPH as of Wednesday, April 22, at 9 a.m. There are currently 825,306 cases of COVID-19 nationwide, with 45,075 deaths and 75,673 recovered, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Statewide there have been 191 deaths reported with 178 of those confirmed by the ADPH. The department also reports 730 total hospitalizations due to COVID-19 since March 13.

The number of new cases of COVID-19 has continued to decline overall since its peak over a week ago, according to a chart released by the ADPH yesterday (below).
