The U.S. Army selected him to assemble, activate and command a new Supply & Transport Troop, CSS, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Germany. “Surrounded by great soldiers, this was my most rewarding assignment,” Marr said.

“Orders returned me stateside to attend various professional training courses and to complete a master’s degree in logistics management from Florida Institute of Technology,” Marr said.

He returned overseas as a Supply Policy Officer and worked in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff Logistics or ODCSLOG in Heidelberg, Germany. He supported U.S. Army Europe’s downsizing planning and Gulf War support operations.

In the United States, Marr worked on procurements in Special Projects Support Activity to support Special Operation Forces. His final assignment before retirement was as a Transportation Officer in ODCSLOG, where he drafted the transportation movement document in preparation for troop deployments to Bosnia.

After military service, he worked briefly for a Defense Contractor in north Virginia and managed a Navy office database. He then accepted a position with Battelle and retired in 2010 as a senior research scientist. He joined Army Materiel Command at Redstone Arsenal, focused on Business Process Management Development, until his civilian retirement in 2015.
