Mayor Finley to give Madison’s “state of the city” address at free celebration event

MADISON – This Friday the city of Madison and Madison Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to celebrate Madison with a free, family-fun event at Toyota Field.

“Our signature ‘State of the City’ event, formerly known as ‘Connect’, has been re-branded and is now called ‘Celebrate Madison’,” said Chamber Executive Director Michelle Epling. She said after two years of social-distancing due to COVID, the event will be a time to “get back together to celebrate all the accomplishments of the last two years of our city, with Mayor Paul Finley and City Council guiding our town through a global pandemic while staying focused on major growth in all areas of our city.”

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. The celebration program starts at 6 p.m. A fireworks show will be held at 7 p.m. The first 500 attendees will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, soda and ice cream.

“The City of Madison is thrilled to highlight all of the amazing progress our community is making! The Celebrate Madison event will shine a bright spotlight on our achievements while bringing together the network of people who make Madison so wonderful,” Mayor Finley stated.

“We are grateful for our sponsors and Board of the Madison Chamber of Commerce who have helped put this event together. Our goal is to unite the community with our local businesses to promote all of the incredible aspects of the City of Madison,” Epling added.

Mayor Paul Finley’s State of the City, address will recognize the City’s accomplishments and educating citizens on upcoming projects.

Food trucks and performances by the James Clemons Choir, Jazz Band and more will entertain the evening. The event will also feature activities along the concourse and wrap with a fireworks show.

The “Celebrate Madison” event is being sponsored by Meta. For more information about it, go to celebratemadison.com.
