Fantasy Playhouse summer camps to open in Madison

MADISON – Youth interested in dramatic arts can register now for Summer Camp options in Madison by Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy.

Fantasy Playhouse’s qualified, professional teaching artists will conduct full- and half-day camps, along with performance showcases. Their goal is to help students develop their bodies, voices, minds and imaginations to allow them to flourish and grow, both as artists and people.

Fantasy Playhouse will have three different weeks of camps at Bob Jones in Madison this summer:

* BROADWAY BOOTCAMP – June 3-7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Camps divided for five- and six-year-olds; seven- and eight-year-olds; nine- and 10-year-olds; and 11- through 15-year-olds.

Ready to see your name in lights? Experience famous musicals through song and scene. Students will work on acting, voice, movement, dance, musical theatre, improvisation and more. $295.

* HEROES VS. VILLAINS! – June 10-14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open to five- and six-year-olds; seven- and eight-year-olds; nine- and 10-year-olds; and 11- through 15-year-olds.

Who will save the day — the Heroes or the Villains? Campers can get ready for a week of creating epic superheroes and menacing supervillains, through improv, theatre games and creative movement. $295.

* FABLES AND FAIRYTALES – June 17-21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This camp is open to five- and six-year-olds; seven- and eight-year-olds; nine- and 10-year-olds; and 15-year-olds.

Enchanted adventures await campers at Fables and Fairytales. Students will explore these forms of literature . . . with a twist. Explore the elements of performance including acting, movement, voice, dance, musical theatre, improvisation and more. $295.

* BARBIE’S LIFE IN THE DREAMHOUSE – June 24-28 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Open to five and six years old. The sessions will pay homage to the classic icon of style and friendship. Price is $185.

* BLUEY & BINGO SUMMER VACATION – June 24-28 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Open to five- and six-year-olds. Who’s the pup who loves to play? Bluey! Actors will use their bodies, voices and imaginations to bring Bluey and her family to life for a guaranteed good time.

While learning the power of believing in themselves, students will make friends and memories for a lifetime. Price is $185.

CAMP HALF-BLOOD: PERCY JACKSON – June 24-28 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Open to children from 10 to 13 years old.

Based on the hit best-seller and new TV series, Percy Jackson is on the most dangerous quest of his life: to catch the lightning thief. With his friends’ help, Percy must journey across the United States to catch the thief and face a host of mythological enemies determined to stop him. $185.

* CAMP HOGWARTS – June 24-28 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Open to 10- through 13-year-olds. Travel to the wizarding world of Harry Potter in this magical class. Actors will explore theatre games, character development and the tools of an actor while getting ready for their whirlwind presentation.

This fast-paced camp will explore Harry Potter’s seven years at Hogwarts. $185.

* CARTOON MANIA!: FROM SCREEN TO STAGE – June 24-28 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Open to students from 8 to 10 years old. Have you ever imagined what it would be like to be a cartoon character? Cartoon favorites will visit from Disney, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network.

Use your imagination to create cartoon characters and become them onstage. Learn how to walk, talk and even perform like a cartoon character. $185.

* JEDI TRAINING CAMP: STAR WARS – June 24-28 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Open to seven- through nine-year-olds.

What will it be, the dark side or the light side of the Force? Young padawans in this action-packed camp will explore storytelling and scene work as familiar characters from a galaxy far, far away. Price is $185.

* MAGIC TREEHOUSE CAMP – June 24-28 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Open to seven- through nine-year-olds.

Jack and Annie are at it again! Actors will work on scenes from “Narwhal on a Sunny Night,” “To the Future, Ben Franklin” and “Warriors in Winter.” Students will work on different ways to use their bodies, voices and imaginations to bring these new adventures to life. $185.

* SQUISHMALLOWS ON STAGE – June 24-28 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Open to seven- through nine-year-olds.

Squishmallow plush toys are here to fill your hearts with love and affection. At this half-day camp, the staff encourages young actors to bring their squishy friends to join them onstage! Actors will play games, act out scenes and even build a friend for their Squishmallow. $185.

* SUPER MARIO SUMMER – June 24-28 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Five- through seven-year-olds can attend.

Young actors will be transported into the world of Super Mario with Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach. Students will learn the tools of the actors through imaginative play, storytelling, movement and imagination. $185.

* THE ERAS CAMP: TAYLOR SWIFT – June 24-28 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Open to students 10 to 12 years old; and to 13- to 15-year-olds.

Have an Enchanted Summer with the brand-new Taylor Swift Summer Camp! Young actors will sing and dance to Taylor Swift, and even make friendship bracelets of their very own.

‘Shake It Off’ in this camp to develop acting skills and make friendships to last a lifetime. $185.

* THE GREATEST SHOWMAN CAMP – June 24-28 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Open to 10- through 12-year-olds.

Join the circus with Fantasy Playhouse this summer with our new camp based on the popular movie! Sing and dance along with “Rewrite the Stars” and “This is Me.”

Help bring the story to life by making creative character choices and performing scenes. $185.

* THE WOES OF WEDNESDAY ADDAMS – June 24-28 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Open to students who are 13 to 15 years old.

Come to Nevermore Academy, if you must . . . where Wednesday, Enid and Thing will attempt to solve the mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago. And there’s a monster on the loose? How drab. Dance to Goo Goo Muwilck and have the best week ever. $185.

* LITTLE WOMEN 2: WRATH OF THE UNDEAD (One-Act Teen Showcase) – July 8-12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open to students 13 through 18 years old.

Little Tommy would rather play “Call of Duty” than listen to his babysitter, Claire, read a bedtime story, especially one as sappy as “Little Women.” But Claire’s rendition turns out to be more violent than he expected. Forget what you know about the mild-mannered March sisters: these little women are out for blood. $315.

* HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL JR – Advanced Musical Theatre Showcase – July 15-26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open to students nine to 18 years old.

In this two-week performance-intensive program, our aspiring actors will gain stage experience by working on a musical. Actors will show case their talents in a fully developed production at Bob Jones. $525.

* JR. TECH THEATRE CAMP – July 15-26 from 9 a.m. to noon. Open to students nine to 18 years old.

Technical Theatre is the STEAM that powers our productions. This two-week camp is designed to give students the hands-on opportunity to explore prop and set construction; sound and lighting design; and costume design and wardrobe support for our Young Musical Theatre Showcase, “JR Wildcats.” $295.

* “Jr. Wildcats: Young Musical Theatre Showcase” – July 15-26 from 9 a.m. to noon. Open to five- through eight-year-olds.

There’s drama at East High! With the school musical AND basketball tournament happening on the same weekend, the basketball team and drama club will have to work together to get their “Heads in the Game” in order to “Bop to the Top!” Including characters and songs from “High School Musical” I and II. $295.

* TECH THEATRE CAMP – July 15-26 from noon to 3 p.m. Open to 13- through 18-year-olds.

This two-week camp is designed to give students hands-on opportunity to explore prop and set construction; sound and lighting design; and costume design and wardrobe support for our Advanced Musical Theatre Showcase, “High School Musical JR.:” $295.

Fantasy Playhouse does not provide food or drink. Campers staying for a full day should bring a lunch (without peanuts or tree-nuts).
