Bob Jones Baseball Produces Two All-Americans

MADISON- Bob Jones High, the City of Madison and the State of Alabama can all be proud of the latest high school post-season awards given to Bob Jones standouts Braden Booth and Zack Johnson for their superior play during the 2024 baseball season.

MaxPreps named Booth to its All-American First-Team as a utility player while Johnson was a Second-Team pick at catcher.

The two powerhouse players were the only athletes from Alabama named to the elite 30-player team selection. Both were tremendous in helping the Patriots to its first ever Class 7A Baseball State Championship with a thrilling three-game win over Central-Phenix City. Bob Jones was listed No. 17 in the season-ending MaxPreps national ranking under head coach Jared Smith.

Booth was named Mr. Baseball in Alabama, the Gatorade Alabama Player of the Year along with Player and Pitcher of the Year from the Alabama Sports Writers Association. He signed with Mississippi State after a 13-1 season, including two no-hitters, while on the mound with a 1.51 ERA. He was also stellar at the plate batting .429 with 10 homers and 49 RBIs.

Booth’s battery-mate in Johnson put on a show in his junior season with the Pats as the ASWA named him Hitter of the Year and First-Team All-State at catcher. The Alabama commit recently played in the North-South All-Star Week baseball contest where the South defeated Johnson and the North squad 4-1. For the just completed season, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Johnson hit .384 with 65 RBIs.
