James Clemens to offer Spotlight Theatre Camp

MADISON – Students interested in theatre components, such as lighting, sound, singing or vocal delivery, can attend the 2025 Summer Spotlight Theatre Camp.

Students who will enter second through ninth grade in the 2025-2026 school year are eligible to attend. The camp on May 27-30 will run from 9 a.m. to noon on-campus, primarily in the auditorium, at James Clemens, 11306 County Line Road.

Camp fee is $75 per student.

To register, students must complete details at two sites: fill out the Google form AND pay with LeanStream; visit forms. gle/KUeB5KFptjrXUFot8.

Deadline for registration is April 30 or when the camp reaches capacity. Payment deadline is May 6.

The camp can accept 125 students. Organizers urge parents to register soon to guarantee the child’s spot. In past years, the camp has sold out for attendance.

After the camp reaches 125 campers, organizers will add the students’ names to a waiting list and notify parents by email. Payment will not be due until the student leaves the waiting list.

The camp offers a fun, creative option to learn about basics for acting, musical or technical skills or to produce a show. Campers will perform onstage or backstage in the Spotlight Showcase for family and friends at noon on May 30 to showcase the lessons learned during camp.

Campers can choose among three focuses for their sessions: Acting, Musical Theatre or Technical Theatre.

Campers will receive a camp T-shirt, a daily snack and pizza after the Spotlight Performance on the last day of camp.

When completing the application, campers will indicate if they have experience on-stage or backstage; experience is not required, but this indication gives instructors a good overview of the group.

The prospective campers will state their first preference for the camp’s focus – acting, musicals or techie work.
