Michael McKay Wins District 4 City Council Seat

Michael McKay defeated Rachel Homolak in Tuesday’s municipal election to represent District 4 on the city council, winning 73% of the vote.

“73.21% of the vote. This win feels good. REALLY good. Absolutely fired up and ready to get to work!,” commented McKay on Facebook on Tuesday night.

McKay is Deputy Director of Internal Review at MDA and his community service experience includes serving on the Madison on Track 2045 advisory committee, Madison City Schools District Safety Committee, on the board of his neighborhood HOA, and as President and Vice President of the Madison Elementary PTA. He is a UAH alumnus with a Bachelor’s in Accounting and a Master’s in Accountancy.

McKay ran on a platform of maximizing the city budget to improve quality and “serve as a watchdog for all taxpayer dollars spent”.

“If elected, I will work with my colleagues to ensure successful implementation of the Madison on Track 2045 strategic plan, work to further enhance the city budget for quality of life projects (like improved parks, community facilities, and ball fields), and also serve as a watchdog for all taxpayer dollars spent, eliminating waste and unnecessary spending to streamline important projects,” said McKay back in March.

He replaces Greg Shaw who did not to seek reelection to the District 4 seat.
