Local authors to present discussions, signings at Blue Apple Books in January

MADISON – Local authors Scott Christian Sava, Dwaynia with proseandpens.com, Jonathan Wurst and Betty Bolte are among scheduled guests in January for Blue Apple Books, 14 Main St., Suites B and C in Madison.

On Jan. 10, Scott Christian Sava will conduct a Meet & Greet session and book signing from 1 to 3 p.m. “We’re thrilled to welcome artist, author and educator to millions, Scott Christian Sava, to Blue Apple Books,” owner Robin Dauma said.

Sava’s book, “Becoming an Artist,” is an encouraging, inspiring guide for artists of all levels to embrace failure, overcome self-doubt and rediscover the joy of creating art.

“This is not a book about how to hold a pencil. Or how to draw a superhero. It’s about how we can enjoy the process of making art and let go of perfection, selfdoubt and fear of failure,” Dauma said.

During the past 30 years, Sava’s work has animated characters like Spider-Man, Casper and Power Rangers. He has collaborated with Marvel, Disney and Nickelodeon. (ssavaart. com) Another session, “Creating Your Vision List Workshop,” on Jan. 11 from 3 to 4 p.m. with Dwaynia of proseandpens.com will offer a new spin on newyear planning and beyond. The Vision List involves crafting an ongoing written list that evolves as its owner does.

Participants will learn to identify priorities, set incremental goals and track progress in real time. For tickets, visit proseandpens. com/event-details/creating- your-2026-vision-list.

The next author, Jonathan Wurst, will conduct a book signing and author talk on Jan. 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. Wurst’s debut novel, “The Witch and the Worldbreaker!,” asks, “Can fate be reversed?”

Such a thought is unimaginable for Wurst’s wandering knight, Chinelo. The witch Isobel defies that idea. When these two meet by chance, Isobel offers Chinelo a deal: fix the hole through her roof that she blasted, and she will teach him the Ancient Arts.

Chinelo’s shadowy past follows him, and mysterious powers seek Isobel’s death. Chinelo, Isobel and her bullfrog Mort must journey to defy time itself — a journey to uncover magic lost to history.

Wurst, an engineer, grew up near Atlanta, Ga. and currently lives in Huntsville.

On Jan. 24, Betty Bolte will celebrate the release of her latest book, “Katy: The Woman Who Signed the Declaration of Independence” based on the life of Katy Goddard, the only woman to sign the document. This year marks the signing’s 250th anniversary.

“Blue Apple Books will be the first to get to get our hands on the book and hear Betty talk about it. Don’t miss out!” Dauma said.

A Huntsville resident, award-winning Bolte crafts entertaining and informative fiction.

Katy grew up in the Connecticut colony and trained for marriage and children, but her future differed. At her impulsive brother’s behest, Katy moved to different colonies. By signing the declaration, Mary Katharine Goddard risked hanging. “Katy shows us how some risks are worth taking, even when the price could be your life,” Bolte said. (bettybolte.com) Tickets are required and cost $25, which includes a signed copy of Bolte’s book, themed bookmark, Bolte’s author talk at 2 p.m. and book-inspired dessert and tea/coffee.
