Madison Public Library, Madison Visionary Partners plan Community Volunteer Fair to match people, needs

MADISON – Madison Visionary Partners or MVP and Huntsville- Madison County Public Library will host a Community Volunteer Fair in April.

Organizers have designed the event to connect local nonprofit and civic organizations with adults and teenagers who are looking for meaningful ways to get involved and serve. More than 25 organizations will be onsite to share information about their missions and volunteer opportunities.

The Community Volunteer Fair on April 11 will run from 10 a.m. to noon in auditoriums of Madison Public Library at 142 Plaza Blvd.

From youth mentorship and environmental initiatives to arts, education and community outreach programs, attendees will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of causes and find volunteer roles that match their interests, skills and availability, according to MVP’s press release.

“Our community thrives when people step up to serve,” MVP Executive Director Christina Hearne said. “This Volunteer Fair is about making it easy for residents to discover how they can plug in and make a difference right here at home. We are excited to partner with the library to bring so many incredible organizations together under one roof.”

The event is free and open to the public; registration is not required. Organizers encourage people with varying causes to attend the fair: teenagers who need service hours to bulk up their resumes; seasoned residents looking to get more involved in community affairs; and families wanting to pursue volunteer activities together.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Madison Visionary Partners to host this Volunteer Fair,” Carolyn Reagle said. Reagle works as Adult Programming Librarian with Huntsville-Madison County Public Library. “Libraries are community connectors, and this event reflects our mission to support civic engagement and lifelong involvement.”

“We look forward to welcoming residents and helping them find meaningful opportunities to serve,” Reagle said.

A community nonprofit organization, MVP was founded in 2014 by civic and business leaders. MVP’s primary focus is to attract philanthropic support and collaborative partnerships for projects in Madison. The mission focus is to enrich quality of life for the City of Madison.
