Madison residents Larry Frazier and Dorothy Foster have been nominated and elected into the Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.
An induction ceremony was held on Sept. 29 in Montgomery where Frazier and Foster were recognized.
The Hall of Fame recognizes honorees in the following categories: Class Members, wherein 10 persons are nominated, voted for, and become members of the Hall of Fame; Special Awards, wherein professionals and individuals are nominated in nine categories, voted for and honored in specific categories as befitting their contributions affecting the elderly in Alabama; Honorary Members, wherein persons are nominated and honored as honorary members; and In Memory Of, wherein persons are honored in memoriam for their contributions in life to the elderly population.
Frazier was nominated and elected into the class member category. Foster was nominated and elected into the honorary member category.
The Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame was created in 1983 to honor living Alabama citizens who have made significant contributions toward enhancing the lives of Alabama's elderly citizens.
"This recognition has not been well publicized and many of Alabama's citizens do not know of its existence," Frazier said. "In fact, I was not aware of it until I was notified that I had been nominated and elected."
Frazier was presented with a Golden Eagle Medal of Honor pin. Foster was presented with a Golden Eagle Honorary Eagle pin.
