Main Street Madison celebrates local schools at Madison Bowl
MSM calls on youth and community to help shape the future of downtown
MADISON – Main Street Madison joined community members, students, and elected officials at the annual Madison City Bowl football game on Friday, Sept. 4, demonstrating unified support for Madison City Schools and the high school rivalry between the James Clemens Jets and the Bob Jones Patriots.
During the event, Main Street Madison representatives stood alongside local and state leaders, including U.S. Representative Dale Strong, Alabama State Representatives Parker Moore and Phillip Rigsby, and Madison Mayor Ranae Bartlett and council members to celebrate the district’s youth, educators and school leadership.
As a non-profit organization dedicated to downtown revitalization, Main Street Madison functions as “economic development wrapped in historic preservation.” The group works to support small local business owners through community events, enhancement of historic downtown’s physical appearance, recruitment of new businesses, and by filling vacant spaces based on community feedback.
Following Friday’s show of community support, Main Street Madison is launching a call-to-action encouraging residents – specifically local students and youth – to get involved in preserving and growing the heart of the city.
“Main Street Madison is so fortunate to serve this community alongside leaders who care deeply for both our historic downtown and our public schools,” said Jen DeLessio, Executive Director of Main Street Madison. “We want our youth and residents to understand how vital small businesses are to our community’s identity. Preserving the historic place where Madison was made requires all of us, and there is immense opportunity for anyone to make a real impact based on their unique interests and talents.”
