Project PROUD to host fun day at Palmer Park
The Madison Baseball Association will officially kick off its 2003 baseball season Saturday with a one-hour jamboree
Following that event, members of the Project PROUD board will hold a Jamboree Fun Day at the upper soccer fields at Palmer Park.
The MBA one-hour jamboree will be held at 9 a.m. – also at Palmer Park.
"The jamboree is our official kick-off to the baseball season, said Tom Landin, MBA president.
The event will be held in Field 9 at the Lower Quad Complex. There, all teams and coaches will be introduces, representing some 100 teams and 1,100 players. The MBA board, Project PROUD board, city of Madison dignitaries, Madison County dignitaries and others will be introduced.
"Our goad is to build excitement for the kids with an opening day atmosphere while taking a couple of minutes to introduce the people that make each season possible with their behind-the-scenes work," Landin said.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Project PROUD Jamboree Fun Day will take place. Several rental organizations have donated equipment, including a tiger slide, obstacle course, moon bounce and other fun equipment. Project PROUD will sell tickets allowing the kids to enjoy the equipment.
"It is exciting to have the ability to enhance this years Jamboree with these fun, donated activities," said Paul Finley, chairman of Project PROUD. "Our project continues to benefit from strong community support. All of the money that we raise during the jamboree will go directly towards our end goal of a new concession stand for the Upper Quad area."
Drinks will be offered and Project PROUD members will sell T-shirts.
