Area woman named Realtor of the Year

The Huntsville Area Association of Realtors has named Cindy Henson Allen, a broker associate at Crye-Leike Realtors in Madison, 2010 Realtor of the Year.

Allen has been named 2010 Realtor of the Year

“I am humbled and I struggle with giving myself any credit at all since it is God who gives every perfect gift,” Allen said. “I tell everyone who will listen that if you see any good in me it is because of Jesus.  I also thank Him for the people He has placed in my life that have encouraged me and inspired me along the way.”

Allen said it was her parents who gave her the inspiration to pursue a career in real estate. After they retired from the business in 1999, Henson Allen became the Qualified Broker and owner of the company.

Allen’s recognition is based on her community volunteer work, her service to the real estate industry and her business success as a Realtor.

“The service to the Boards of Realtors, my teaching and service to my church, and my involvement with missions has always been more rewarding to me than it could ever be to the people I serve,” she said. “That’s what it’s all about. When we serve in any capacity – those are the experiences that create the opportunities for us to succeed in our business and personal lives.”

In the midst of the recession, Allen said she is both challenged and optimistic. With interest rates at the lowest she’s ever seen, Allen shows tenacity and determination through it all.

“I believe we need to stop buying into the negativity of the environment today,” she said. “Real estate is local, not national.  If we can just focus on what we see, instead of what we fear, we will see health, wealth and prosperity that will surround us.  We are living in the greatest country in the world and opportunity is still greater here than anywhere.”

At the end of the day, Allen’s faith and work ethic have combined to bring her joy, personal satisfaction and success.

She is an active member of Home Mission Baptist Church, where she is the founder of the Mission Ministry and has taught Adult Sunday School since 2000.  She is a volunteer and currently serves as secretary on the Habitat for Humanity Executive Committee.

Other volunteer work has included United Way, Wiregrass Hospice, church fundraisers, and as a member of Twickenham Republican Women, Allen has served in political campaigns to elect Gov. Bob Riley, the Realtor’s Steering committee to elect Congressman Parker Griffith and Sen. Paul Sanford.

With great humility Allen said she proudly accepts the honor as Huntsville’s 2010 Realtor of the Year… following in the footsteps of those who’ve received it before her and proud to be counted among them.
