Holtzclaw, Bentley, Republicans win

Madison City Council President Bill Holtzclaw has unseated incumbent Tom Butler for the State Senate No. 2 seat.

“After 14 months of hard work, right now the victory is sweet,” Holtzclaw said after his victory. “The citizens chose me because doing the same thing over and over again was not yielding the results this community wanted and it’s time to have new leadership.”

As far as District 2 is concerned, Holtzclaw said he will improve what Butler has done.

“We are going to continue to build upon the foundation that was laid by Sen. Butler,” he said. “We are going to work to get funded back up for our roads and our schools, continue to build upon the economic basis here and move in a proactive mode, rather than a reactive mode to the future.”
