Rainy Monday on tap

Scattered thunderstorms accompanied with lighting and thunder are expected to begin Monday afternoon, as a front moves through the Tennessee Valley.

Light rain is expected to begin during the early morning hours, but the greatest threat of severe weather will occur during the afternoon hours.

Although conditions are currently not predicted to produce the threat of tornadoes, high wind gusts, lightning and thunder are expected as the front moves through beginning at approximately 3 p.m.

Monday’s high is expected to reach 71 with and overnight low of 52.

Rain is expected to last throughout the day into the morning hours Tuesday.

Following the rainy front, sun and highs in the mid-70s are expected throughout the week.
