Lady Patriots’ Jones girls highlight North-South team

The Class 6A girls’ basketball state champion Bob Jones Lady Patriots have placed two members on the Alabama All-Star Sports Week North roster, as rosters for the boys’ and girls’ teams were announced Tuesday.

Jasmine Jones, a University of Tennessee commitment, and Tierra Jones were both named to the North roster.

The 15th-annual All-Star Week moves from Huntsville back to Montgomery July 11-15.

The girls and boys all-star teams will square Wednesday, July 13 at Alabama State University’s Acadome beginning at 6 p.m.

Sports Week, which also includes in-state all-star games in soccer, baseball, volleyball, softball and football, will feature clinic and special sessions for coaches, principals, athletic directors, cheerleader coaches and officials. An All-Sports Equipment Expo and other related activities are scheduled throughout the week.

The Sports Week Sportsmanship Banquet honoring all schools that have not had an ejection or fine during the 2010-11 school year and the annual Championship Coaches Awards Banquet will conclude the week on Friday night.
