Trulock announces bid for mayor

Troy Trulock announced Tuesday, Nov. 15 that he will seek the office of Mayor of Madison in the upcoming 2012 city election.

Troy Trulock announced Tuesday, Nov. 15 that he will seek the office of Mayor of Madison in the upcoming 2012 city election.

Trulock, 47, serves as president/CEO of TDK Aerospace.

As a graduate of the University of Kansas’ ROTC program, Trulock earned the designation of Distinguished Military Graduate.

“Madison has been consistently recognized over the last few years as one of the  best places to live,” Trulock said. “There are many reasons for that—schools, recreation, standard of living and more. But, the main reason for our success has been the hard work and dedication of our citizens. The people are why our family chose to put down roots here in 2000, and the people are the reason I now want to lead the city as its mayor.”

He is a U.S. Army combat veteran and received the Bronze Star for meritorious service during the Gulf War. In 2000, he was assigned to Redstone Arsenal and moved to Madison.

Following 20 years of service in the U.S. military, Trulock chose to retire in 2006—in large part because he and his wife, Dana, felt that Madison was the right place to retire, raise a family and volunteer their time to give back to the community. Since that time, he has been actively involved in professional committees, civil organizations and youth sports.

In the area of community service, Trulock serves on the Board of Directors for Leadership Huntsville/Madison County and the Air and Missile Defense Association and is a member of the Executive Committee for the Space & Missile Defense Conference as well as Adventures in Engineering.

He is a member of the Madison City Recreation Advisory Board and serves on the Board of Managers for the Hogan Family YMCA in Madison, where he is also a Founding Member. He has coached more than sixty youth sports teams in Madison and is also active in the Bob Jones High School Athletic support organizations.

As mayor of Madison, Trulock said he will bring voters his record of service, experience and leadership to guide the growing city to the next level.

With municipal elections nine months away, Trulock said there has never been a more exciting time to be in Madison.

“As the fourth-largest municipality in the sate, we have more opportunity than ever for growth and expansion,” he said. “But, at the same time, we also have more responsibility than ever to safeguard our growth and keep it efficient.”
