Busy Signing Day at Bob Jones for football players

Bob Jones High School has announced the schedule for Feb. 1 signing day at the school. Three student athletes will sign Letters-of-Intent to play college football at 10:30 A.M.

A signed letter of intent is a contract officially linking the student-athlete and the university.

Defensive end Marquez Pride will sign with Western Kentucky University. Pride made an official visit to the campus in Bowling Green, Kentucky in January. Pride was Class 6A All-State after registering 12 sacks and 78 tackles, including 17 for loss. Western Kentucky is a member of the Sun Belt Conference along with Troy and Middle Tennessee State. The conference plays in FBS, which means they compete for bowl games after a conference champion is determined.

A date of note on WKU future schedule is Sept. 8 of this year when they will play Alabama in Tuscaloosa in the home opener for the Crimson Tide. Pride is scheduled to sign at 10:30 A.M.

Linebacker Reggie Ragland will sign with the University of Alabama. Ragland has been committed to the BCS National Champions for over a year. He is No. 4 on the Twelve Super Seniors as rated by The Birmingham News in the state of Alabama and is rated the top middle linebacker in the nation by several recruiting services.

Ragland was named 6A Lineman of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. He becomes Bob Jones first football player to sign with the University of Alabama.

The third Bob Jones football player to sign will be Rishad Goode, a defensive back. Goode will sign with Troy and stay in-state.

Goode, 6-foot-1, 185 pounds had big plays both on defense and special teams this season. He scored a touchdown against Decatur on a fumble recovery and he ran the opening kickoff back for a touchdown against Hazel Green.

The Madison Record will have complete coverage including pictures and reaction from the players.
