Ramona Adams Austin; April 5, 2012

Ramona Adams Austin, 53, of Madison, passed away Thursday, April 5 at her home following a valiant battle against breast cancer. Ramona was preceded in death by her mother, Melvalene Campbell Adams.

Survivors include her loving husband, Mark Austin; daughter, Shannon Feria; son, Zach Austin; father, Bill Adams; sisters, Lana Elswick, Roxanne Cooke and Michelle Adrian; granddaughters, Alexis and Makayla Feria and several nieces and nephews, Rusty Elswick, Kelly Cooke Nave, Niki Miller and Samuel Kyle Cooke.

Ramona was a loving wife and mother. She was a lifelong resident of Madison and a graduate of Bob Jones High School and Athens State University.

Ramona made lifelong friends through her careers at USBI, McDonnell Douglas, Boeing and ULA. She was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was known for her caring nature and sweet smile that touched everyone she met.

Visitation was from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 6 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral was at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Madison with Dr. Alan Weatherly officiating. Burial was in Huntsville Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Alan Austin, Mark Adrian, Kyle Cooke, Steve McCafferty, Lane Coates and Jeff Bass.
