Panoply’s to Exhibit Works Of Nearly 70 Artists

The Arts Council announced today that the Panoply 2012 Art Marketplace, sponsored by Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Alabama, will host 69 professional artists exhibiting work in a range of artistic mediums from fiber, glass, and jewelry to sculpture and paintings.

Carefully selected through a juried process, artists from across the United States competed to show their work at the 30th Panoply Arts Festival in downtown Huntsville’s Big Spring International Park from April 27 – 29.

Each year, Panoply’s Art Marketplace invites featured artists never before seen at the festival to participate in the event, and in 2012 festivalgoers will see the work of three featured artists:  painter Rickie Higgins, mixed media assemblage art creator Gina Percifull, and Rocket City Glass Girls Pat Wilson, Carol English and Linda Terry Hickam. The Art Marketplace also features an Emerging and Junior Emerging Artists’ Tent, sponsored by Public FA, which celebrates up and coming local talent. Throughout the weekend, the Panoply Arts In Action area will also offer continuous educational demonstrations by professional artists as they share a first-hand look at their creative process.

The Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Alabama’s Art Marketplace at Panoply will be open to the public from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 27; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 28; and noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 29.

Advance access to the Art Marketplace is offered to area art collectors and first-time art buyers through the Art Investors “First Dibs” program.

Art Investors, a benefit program for The Arts Council, features a “First Dibs” reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday April 27, followed by exclusive access to the Art Marketplace from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. To request an invitation to “First Dibs” or for more information, call The Arts Council at (256) 519-2787.

General admission advance tickets to the 30th Panoply Arts Festival are available at all North Alabama Regions Bank branches.  Daily admission is $5 and weekend Panopasses are $10 for admission to all activities all weekend.  Children 12 and under are free. More information about Panoply 2012 is available at Artshuntsville.org.
