Moms in Touch changes name, holding breakfast

Moms In Touch International has officially changed its name to Moms in Prayer International.

Madison County area coordinator Marilyn Merkel said the name change better reflects what the group stands for.

“It is a reflection of our vision and specifies what the ministry is all about,” Merkel said. “The ministry remains the same, only the name has changed.”

Moms in Prayer consists of a group of women who gather once a week during the school year to pray about various issues including children and school activities.

“One lady is assigned as the leader who prepares the prayer sheet,” Merkel said. “The group begins with prayer, a time of reflection and then during intercession, they break up into groups and pray for individual children.”

The new name is said to be a reflection of the vision of the ministry.

Merkel said group size varies from three to more than a dozen. She said there are more than 30 groups that meet in the Madison County area, with nine of those groups in the city of Madison.

Many groups are focused on praying for one specific school where several groups are church-based and pray for as many schools as represented by the moms who attend.

The local area team will be hosting two “Moms in Prayer Spring Breakfasts” Friday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Madison Bible Church, located at 1520 Hughes Road in Madison. For more information, contact Merkel for childcare reservation at (256) 679-7912 or merkelm@knology.net.

For those in the Huntsville/Hampton Cove/NE county areas, the breakfast will be held on Thursday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Whitesburg Baptist’s South Campus in the Café (7300 Whitesburg Drive) in Huntsville.  A hot breakfast buffet is provided with reservation only for $5—deadline to R.S.V.P is April 19.  Please contact Beverly Ellison with your R.S.V.P. or for childcare needs at 533-3411 or kandbellison@gmail.com.   May pay at door for the buffet or order from the grille as another option.
