Overcash seeking re-election

City councilman Tommy Overvash is running for re-election.

Overcash

The District 5 representative said he believes his experience, leadership, work ethic and dedication are the keys to continuing his success.

“I think the four main focus areas to Madison’s continued improvement are: upgraded roads and drainage infrastructure; enhanced quality of life with continuing excellent schools, parks, trails and recreation; more retail development to generate an increased sales tax basis; and planning for structured residential growth,” Overcash said.

However, he said there is still plenty left to accomplish to prepare for the city’s future.

“During my next term I will continue to work diligently to lead our city’s government in moving forward with strategic plans to make Madison an even more progressive community,” he said.

Overcash was elected to the City Council in 2004 and served as Council President during 2007, 2009 and 2011.  He currently serves on the North Alabama Gas District board, the Huntsville/Madison County Library board, the Madison Police Foundation board and is chairman of the Madison City Human Resource Committee. He has previously served as council representative to the Madison Industrial Development board, the Madison Beautification and Tree Board, and the Madison Station Historical Society. He has also served on the Madison Planning and Zoning Commission and the Tennessee Valley BRAC Committee.

Overcash said he believes other areas of significant progress have been the council’s ability in the last several terms to more effectively work together to put the needs of the community first, improved relationships with other local government entities and a more open and transparent city government.  He said,

“My long term vision for Madison is that it will always be a thriving community where people want to work, live, and raise their families,” he said.
