Sparkman holding special needs prom

“We want to make this a red carpet event for our students since this may be the first and last prom event of they may ever attend,” special education teacher Allison Bowden said.

The Sparkman High School Special Forces special education department will host their first annual special needs prom on Friday, May 18 at 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria at 2616 Jeff Road, Harvest.

What started out as a simple discussion has turned into an event of a lifetime for these special students. Parents and faculty members have volunteered, dresses have been donated, and the Madison County Technical School’s cosmetology students will be on hand for complete prom make-overs.

“We want to make this a red carpet event for our students since this may be the first and last prom event of they may ever attend,” special education teacher Allison Bowden said.

The media is invited to share in this happy event for these wonderful students.
