Registration opens for youth football, cheer leagues

Madison Athletics Association has announced registration dates for youth football and cheer squads.

Registration dates at Dublin Park, 8324 Old Madison Pike are June 21 from 6 to 8 p.m., July 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and July 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. A $25 late fee will apply when registering after these dates.

Games in the Tennessee Valley Youth Football League are tackle football. The four divisions are freshman, 5-6 years old; sophomore, 7-8 years old; junior, 9-10 years old; and senior division, 11-12 years old. Thirteen-year-olds who weigh less than 95 pounds can play in the senior division.

Each child that registers must present a copy of his or her birth certificate.

The fee for tackle football is $155. The football fee includes registration, insurance, a game jersey, shoulder pads and a helmet. The fee does not include game pants. Football players will be fitted and game pants will be ordered at the season opening. Players must return the shoulder pads and helmet at the end of the season.

For the cheer teams, the fee is $70. The cheer fee includes registration and insurance. The fee does not include the cheer uniform. Cheerleaders will be fitted and uniforms will be ordered at season opening.

Football season begins July 23. Practices will be held at Palmer Park, 574 Palmer Road.

Registration forms are available at madisonathletics.org. Parents should bring the completed form to a registration date, or mail the registration form to Madison Athletics Association, P.O. Box 1003, Madison, AL 35758.
