AARP offering driver safety class, special for educators
This August, the Madison Senior Center will again offer an AARP Driver Safety Class. It is open to anyone, but educators have a special incentive for taking it at this time.
The class is $14 ($12 for AARP members) and $5 for educators.
The class lasts eight hours and provides safety strategies for seniors to help them keep driving.
People who complete the class will receive a certificate, which may qualify them for a discount on their automobile insurance. The class will be taught Aug. 2 and 9 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Senior Center.
The Educator Appreciation Promotion is offered to those individuals who have been an educator, or have worked for a school district or university in any capacity. This includes everyone from custodians, secretaries, aides, pre-school teachers, college professors, guidance counselors, band directors, school nurses, Sunday school teachers, cafeteria workers and even parents who home-school their children.
To redeem the $5 course offer, participants are required to fill out a coupon. Coupons may be secured from NRTA sources, from the AARP website and at the Senior Center. Coupons will also be available during registration the first day of the class. No form of “educator” identification is required.
