Elementary schools announce open house dates

Elementary schools in Madison soon will host open houses for the 2012-2013 school year.

Horizon Elementary School will hold open house on Aug. 15. Kindergarten families will attend from 3 to 3:45 p.m.; first, third and fifth grades from 4 to 4:45 p.m.; and second, fourth and sixth grades from 5 to 5:45 p.m.

Also on Aug. 15, Madison Elementary School will welcome students. Kindergarten through third grade can visit from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Fourth- through sixth-graders are scheduled from 5 to 5:45 p.m.

Mill Creek Elementary School’s open house will be held on Aug. 16 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the cafeteria. Kindergarten families and others new to the school can meet with PTA Volunteers and tour the building.

Maverick PTA Day will be open to all Mill Creek families on Aug. 17 in the cafeteria from 10 a.m. to noon and again from 5 to 7 p.m. PTA volunteers will attend, and parents can receive information about the extended day program, joining PTA and sales of Maverick T-shirts, kindergarten nap mats and school supply kits.

Rainbow Elementary School’s open house on Aug. 16 from 5 to 6 p.m. is designated for new, preschool and kindergarten students. Student families can meet the faculty and staff and tour the building.

Then, on Aug. 17 from 4 to 7 p.m., the Rainbow Back-to-School Blast will be open to all students. Students will learn their teacher assignments. Parents can take home material about extended day, bus schedules, school organizations and clubs, PTA membership and volunteer opportunities. Inflatable amusements and the supervised playground will be available.

West Madison Elementary School will offer staggered times for open house on Aug. 15 in the cafeteria. Kindergarten, third and sixth grades will attend from 4 to 4:45, followed by grades 1, 2, 4 and 5 from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Students can buy West Madison T-shirts and parents can learn about clubs, PTA, bus stops and extended day. Class lists will be posted in the cafeteria at 1 p.m.

Heritage and Columbia elementary schools have not yet announced their open house dates.
