Curriculum Nights new for elementary schools

For the 2012-2013 school year, elementary schools in Madison are offering a new nighttime session to inform parents.

“Curriculum Night” will give details about daily routines, procedures and academic expectations for all grade levels, principal Rodney Richardson at Horizon Elementary School said.

Curriculum Night sessions at Horizon are scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. Horizon kindergarten and sixth grade will attend Aug. 27; first and fifth grades, Aug. 28; second and fourth grades, Aug. 29; and third grade, Aug. 30.

With Horizon’s ‘flex schedule’ for kindergartners, only girls will attend on Aug. 20 and 22. Boys only will go to school on Aug. 21 and 23. All kindergartners will attend starting Aug. 24.

Mill Creek Elementary School will host a curriculum night for each grade level. All sessions are scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. Teachers will provide information on course study, grade-level procedures, homework policies, discipline procedures and field trips.
