Bob Jones library asks for help with Book Boosters

Media specialists at Bob Jones High School are spearheading a different type of drive to renew the collection of books in the library.

“It’s an innovative online fundraising program called Book Boosters,” media specialist Cindy Huskey said. In partnership with Perma-Bound Books, Huskey and media specialist Shane Jones have created a list of titles that Bob Jones needs.

“As you know, in this time of economic stress in our country, many school districts such as ours have been forced to cut back even on essential purchases, such as new books,” Huskey said. “Book Boosters is one way we can fill that gap, helping to improve reading scores and literacy while fostering the joy of reading.”

In contrast to other programs, Book Boosters applies 100 percent of individuals’ contributions toward buying books and other materials from Perma-Bound. “Many books are in Perma-Bound’s patented binding, guaranteed to last over a lifetime of rough use — with an unconditional replacement guarantee,” Huskey said.

To contribute $10 or more, visit http://www.book-boosters.com/bjhsmediacenter to help the “BJHS Media Center Library Renewal” campaign. Donors will be accessing Perma-Bound’s secure system by using Visa or MasterCard.

In addition, residents can mail donations directly to Bob Jones High School, 650 Hughes Road, Madison, Alabama 35758, to the attention of Cindy Huskey.

Huskey welcomes anyone to ask questions regarding memorials and honorariums by calling her at 256-772-2547 or by sending email to chuskey@madisoncity.k12.al.us. All proceeds directly benefit the Book Boosters goal.

“As an added bonus, you can keep track of our fundraising progress in real time using the Book-O-Meter on the web page,” Huskey said. “A stack of books gets filled in higher and higher as we get closer to our goal.”

“That’s it! No phone calls to make, no items to buy and no forms for you or your child to fill out,” Huskey said. “You can rest easy knowing all of your contribution goes toward books and educational material for Bob Jones. Please join us to make Book Boosters a success.”
