Cradle to Rocker helps ‘Kids and Their Caregivers’

MADISON — Dr. Andrea Batt with Cradle to Rocker realizes that the number of Americans acting as caregivers is increasing.

Incorporated in January, Cradle to Rocker LLC for provides physical therapy to children and adult caregivers. Batt’s office, inside Johnson & Hayes Physical Therapy, gives full accessibility in an optimum location with administrative support, Batt said.

Batt provides one-on-one physical therapy for “kids and their caregivers.” A board-certified pediatric specialist, she has expertise in treating acute or long-term movement limitations of babies, toddlers, children and adolescents.

Reaching out to caregivers, Batt encourages better personal care and wellness, resulting in better care for a loved one with a disability. She has worked extensively with adults with movement disorders, like cerebral palsy and spina bifida.

In 2011, Batt earned a doctorate degree in physical therapy. The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties has certified her as a pediatric specialist. The Alabama Physical Therapy practice act allows her to “legally provide assessments without medical referral.”

Along with office appointments, Batt completes home evaluations for injury prevention, best practices for patients and equipment like wheelchairs.

Batt doesn’t believe she “has ‘magic hands’ and everyone who comes to me needs to use all their (annual) therapy visits because they have a medical diagnosis. I will see people (the fewest times) that can allow them to get the best possible outcomes.”

A vendor for Alabama Department of Children’s Rehabilitation Services, she is a board member for AMBUCS and Blaine’s Haven Ranch.

Batt has lived in the Madison area since 1987. Her children attended St. John the Baptist Catholic and Sparkman High schools. Previously, she worked for Madison County Schools, United Cerebral Palsy, ARC of Madison County and Nesin Therapy Services.

Cradle to Rocker’s address is 97 Hughes Road in Madison Market center, Suite P. Office hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, with home visits and evaluations in Madison on other days.
