MADISON — Food, balloon animals and a blood drive made BB&T’s community engagement party at their new Hwy-72 branch a success.

Kristen Strickland, financial center leader for BB&T, said the event was a wonderful success.

“We had a total of 235 people come by,” she said. “We’re proud to be serving in Madison and show that we’re here to provide the community with quality banking and assist out community in any way possible.”

According to a media release by BB&T, assisting communities is what the company is all about.

“BB&T has led numerous economic development and philanthropic endeavors,” it read. “The bank has helped nonprofit community development corporations create affordable housing, community facilities, commercial and industrial projects and employment in economically depressed neighborhoods.”

Part of the Madison location’s community outreach included providing a shredder truck for those wishing to destroy personal documents, a LifeSouth blood mobile donation, a bounce castle for young children and a buffet of food provided by local eateries like Sady’s Bistro, Nothing Bundt Cakes and Nothing But Noodles.

“Everyone had a great time,” Strickland said. “It is always fun when you get to interact with the community.”

BB&T Corporation operates more than 1,850 financial centers throughout the nation. For more information, call (256) 551-4730 or visit their location at 8441 Hwy-72.
