MADISON – Madison Rolling has had a simple yet an excellent idea.

Rolling wants all Madison students to have a new outfit to wear on the first day of school. She founded “Clothing for Confidence” so any student from kindergartners through high school seniors will have new clothing when the bell rings on Aug. 19.

The Clothing for Confidence drive for new and barely used clothing will run through July 19. Residents can donate shirts, pants, jackets, scarves, jewelry and accessories.Drop-off locations are Madison Public Library, Inside-Out Ministries at 103 Gin Oaks Court, Madison City Hall, Dublin Memorial Park and Madison Chamber of Commerce in Hogan Family YMCA.

“Money donations will also be accepted as checks to Inside-Out Ministries for ‘Clothing for Confidence,'” she said.

Rolling is a 2013 graduate of Bob Jones High School. “As my senior year closed, I found a desire to leave a legacy for Christ in my community,” she said. “When I was growing up, my mother was always an advocate of giving me a new outfit to wear the first day of school. She believes that when we feel good in what we wear, we also feel good about ourselves.”

Rolling believes this simple level of self-confidence “can sometimes be all a child needs to branch out, make new friends, speak up or even move outside their comfort zone.”

Clothing articles will be sold for $1 or less to area families. “The money from these sales would then purchase more clothing to help those in need,” Rolling said. Later this summer, that clothing will be sold at Inside-Out.

“We graciously ask for your help in this endeavor and pray you will have a compassionate heart towards our mission,” Rolling said. “If we do find favor in your heart, we also ask that you please spread the word. We cannot do this without the generous support of our community.”
