The expo on Oct. 8 will run from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The wellness center also will be celebrating its tenth anniversary at 8391 U.S. 72 W. near Madison Hospital.

“The expo will promote healthy living and raise awareness of the wide variety of services available in Madison and the surrounding area,” exercise physiologist Blake Lane said. The free event is open to the public. All ages are welcome, although the expo primarily will interest adults.

On Oct. 8, the center is waiving the initial fee for assessment and orientation, which is $97 for individuals and $250 for families. New members only will pay the monthly fee.

Lite 96.9 radio will broadcast remotely and sell Lite It Up Pink lights bulbs for Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. Madison Animal Rescue Foundation will conduct a pet adoption. LifeSouth will have a blood drive.

Madison Hospital will offer blood pressure and blood sugar checks. “The wellness center’s dietitian will be available for any questions,” Lane said. Representatives will attend from The Breast Care Center and other services with Huntsville Hospital.

Local groups and businesses with booths will include Huntsville Havoc, Alabama Hammers, Osher Learning Institute, AAA Insurance, PNC Bank, Hospice Family Care, The Eye Center, Red Cross, Fleet Feet, Spray Tans by Katie Russo, Yellow Dot program, The Walking Company, Sam’s Club, Costco and Madison Senior Center.

Visitors will be eligible for door prizes.

Currently, Madison Wellness Center has about 2,700 members. With the centers at the medical mall and Jones Valley, combined membership is approximately 8,500.

Madison Wellness Center covers 25,000 square foot with a heated, 75-foot swimming pool, whirlpool, steam room, and sauna; personal training; childcare; nutritional counseling and weight-loss programs and land and water aerobics.
