Closet at Monrovia to offer free shopping day

MADISON – The Closet at Monrovia Church of Christ, 595 Nance Road will host a ‘free shopping day’ on Dec. 7 for families facing financial stress.

"If a family needs clothes, we'll give them some for free," director Jay Darnell said.

The shopping day is targeted for people who have lost a job, have been ill or experienced other problems. “No questions asked and no strings attached,” director Jay Darnell said.

“If a family needs clothes, we’ll give them some for free,” he said. The Closet at Monrovia will provide 10 items of clothing per family member.

Warm clothing, shoes, backpacks, purses, underwear, socks and other items will be given away.

Since opening in April 2012, the Closet at Monrovia has helped more than 530 families, or 2,000-plus people, with about 23,000 clothing items. For more information, call 256-325-3757 or email to jndarnell@gmail.com.
