MADISON – Author Jeff Schlaman has released his second novel, a financial thriller titled “Fiat.”

Schlaman’s book explores “what happens in the not-too distant future when the U.S. currency drastically declines and the Federal Reserve chairman tries to deceive the American people,” he said.

“Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but very soon, economic warfare will be declared on the United States,” Schlaman writes in “Fiat.” He promises to shock readers as he plays devil’s advocate in his apocalyptic vision of the near future.

Drawing from his background, Schlaman earned a master’s degree in business from the University of Florida. He has worked as an auditor and a certified public accountant in California. In the past 18 years, Schlaman has worked in public accounting and in corporate finance positions.

“Mistrust of the Federal Reserve’s dubious economic policies and overly far-reaching influence on geopolitical events spurred me … to write about my worst fears come true,” Schlaman said. “The book is part canary in a coal mine, part therapy and part thrilling entertainment.”

Schlaman plans for “Fiat” to be first in a series to share what he believes could hypothetically occur. “‘Fiat’ shows the lives of various segments of society as they struggle to survive and thrive while the fabric of the country unravels,” he said.

“‘Fiat’ is a serious book, an exciting thriller and more than a little bit foreboding — a dreadfully realistic exploration of what could happen if logical conclusions play out. It’s also a great read, full of humor, entertainment and wit,” he said.

Schlaman and his wife Stacey live in Madison with their two children. His first novel was “Subprime Factor.” He intends for his fiction writing to educate a broad audience on the concerns for American economic policies.

Published by Createspace Independent, “Fiat” is available in paperback or Kindle from Amazon or most online retailers.
