MADISON – The Elks Lodge is hosting a valentine’s bash with a glimpse of high-school romance for everyone to enjoy.

Valentine’s Party 2014 will be held on Feb. 14 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Huntsville Elks Lodge 1648, 725 Franklin St. SE in Huntsville. Visitors are welcome, and Elk membership is not required to attend.

The concept for the fun event “is reminiscent of a retro prom and a traditional Valentine’s party,” co-organizer Jennifer Flohr said.

Capitalizing on that idea, local cover band JED Eye “is a great fit. They’re going to play some great love songs from the 1980s and 1990s,” Flohr said. “We hope to have everyone dancing all night long.”

Flohr selected the menu based on her personal favorites for party foods. “With an emphasis on sweet treats,” she said. “We have also created an array of Valentine cocktails and ‘mocktails.'”

Co-organizer Beth Mumaw promises the food will be delicious. “We’ll have hot caprese dip with long bread sticks, brie and red pepper jelly, heart-shaped chicken mini-pizza, hot sausage-and-cheddar balls, iceberg mini-wedge salads with ranch and bacon and mini grilled cheese with strawberry jam,” Mumaw said.

For libations, Valentine’s Party 2014 will feature several signature drinks, parfaits with raspberry cupcakes and more. “This party is open to the public,” Mumaw said. “We want a sellout.”

“This party is for everyone, single or attached. The party is a perfect Valentine’s evening out with your sweetheart, a special ‘Gal-entine’s’ date with the ladies or a gentlemen’s night out,” Flohr said.

To commemorate the evening, a photographer will be available at a vintage photo booth, again reflecting the school prom.

Elks Lodges are places where neighbors come together, families share meals and children grow up. Elks invest in their communities through programs that help children and honoring the service of veterans (elks.org).

Tickets are $25 and include hors d’oeuvres, two drink tickets and “dancing the night away to totally rockin’ love songs supplied by JED Eye,” Flohr said.
