New Orleans, LA , May 27, 2014 – Tulane University awarded degrees to more than 2,700 graduates on May 17, 2014

New Orleans, LA , May 27, 2014 – Tulane University
awarded degrees to more than 2,700 graduates on May 17, 2014, in the
Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. The following local students
graduated:

* Ian Dodson of Madison, graduated from the School of Medicine
with a Doctor of Medicine degree.

* Alex Le of Madison, graduated from the School of Public Health
and Tropical Medicine with a Master of Health Administration degree.

The ceremony’s keynote speaker was Wynton Marsalis, who also received an
honorary degree. Honorary degrees were also given to Carnegie Corporation
President Vartan Gregorian and World Bicycle Relief founder F. K. Day.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees and jazz clarinetist Dr. Michael White
received a Tulane President’s Medal, which are given annually to
individuals for contributing to the well-being of Tulane or New Orleans.

Class members were honored at the ceremony, which included all the pomp
and circumstance of a traditional commencement but with a New Orleans
twist, including herald trumpets and a second-line jazz procession. Music
was provided by Dr. Michael White’s Original Liberty Jazz Band and jazz
singer Topsy Chapman. Wynton Marsalis also performed.

Tulane University is one of the nation’s leading educational and research
institutions. Founded in 1834 in New Orleans, Tulane has ten schools and
colleges offering degrees in architecture, business, law, liberal arts,
medicine, public health and tropical medicine, the sciences and
engineering, and social work.
